Kay and Will joined their families beneath a canopy of fall leaves as all witnessed the joining of their lives.

The two bring a strong faith and much love into this marriage.

Every detail was carefull planned by the bride and her mother.

The colors are vivid and this wedding wins for the best decorative detail of the year, chandeliers suspended from the trees.

We also LOVE the flower petal design on the ground, the catering cards and the cake.

Molly and Tapha, joined by their beautiful daughter and loving families had a sunny, Naples Beach wedding at Delnor Wiggins State Park.

Tapha’s mother traveled all the way from Africa to be with the happy couple.

Molly wins our vote for best veil and bouquet. Her flowers were designed by Barbara at Garden District Naples. We LOVE the orange colors and the tiny hints of pewter and blue. All of their entirely unique designs are amazing. Garden District of Naples

Tropical day-dreamin’

Alyson and Barry escaped New York City for much sunnier latitudes. Their Islamorada wedding in the Florida Keys pulled in tropical details to create a one-of-a-kind day.

Held at the beautiful Coconut Cove Resort and Marina, the couple couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. They had sunny skies in the day, and clear starry skies at night.

Beneath a canopy of trees

Megan and Eric chose to be married beneath the trees in a lovely field in West Virginia.

Their details in cornflower blue were created by Chelsie Painter and Judy Shumaker in Ripley, West Virginia.

The wedding ended with a casual portrait session with the bride and groom strolling through the trees and stealing a few private moments away from their guests.

Daddy’s little girl

My favorite moment at every wedding is the father/daughter dance. I usually shoot through tears as father and daughter take the floor.

I’ve had the pleasure of writing about a woman who could be spending her retirement shopping, but instead helps educate girls in Africa (and at home in Bonita Springs, but that is a whole different story). Brenda, it’s been amazing. Let’s keep working together for the good of the world.

The song of Africa is slowly, slowly changing. It is being sung mostly by women and girls tired of being traded into marriage for the price of a cow; tired of living in fear of rape, beatings, abduction, human trafficking; tired of losing mothers, sisters, husbands to AIDS; tired of being left uneducated, illiterate and without a voice.

Something old … Something New … Love that Dress!

Going to a wedding as bride, mother of the bride, guest … need a new dress? Well, in this economy everyone is looking for a good buy.

One local event is helping women find dresses at great prices, while helping out a very worthy cause.

Love that Dress was born when two friends, Christin Collins and Trish Leonard, decided that they had a whole closet full of dresses and nothing to wear!

They thought maybe a lot of their friends might be in the same situation so they came up with a solution. At Love that Dress donated dresses will be sold with 100 percent of profits going to PACE Center for Girls in Fort Myers.

Women throughout Southwest Florida are currently dropping off dresses and receiving a free ticket to Love that Dress, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the Embassy Suites in Estero.

All types of dresses will be for sale.

The mission of PACE is to provide girls and young women with an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. PACE offers year round counseling and academic services for girls ages 12-17 who are at-risk for juvenile delinquency, failing or dropping out of school, running away from home and experiencing difficulty at home. At the request of community leaders and elected officials, PACE Lee was established in 2007 and since opening its doors has served over 150 girls find success in school, generate a positive relationship with their families and peers, and become productive members of our community. www.PaceCenter.org
